In the Gotham justice system, there are three enforcers of the law: the police, the judicial system, and Batman. Batman is a really rich and really moody dude who saw his parents get killed when he was a kid and who runs around wearing a cape, angsting across the skyline and fighting crime as a way of self diagnosed therapy.

A Batman Comic Masterpost
Batman is a superhero created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, debuting in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. The character has gained worldwide recognition and has become an icon of not only DC comics but comic books as a whole. After the death of his parents, Bruce Wayne makes an oath to fight crime in Gotham. He is confronted with a rogue gallery of complex villains, including the psychotic Joker. Note: This masterpost only includes the main Batman centric storylines. These titles are just pulled from my own personal collection, so some story arcs may not be included. I know a lot of people are interested in Batman because of other forms of media (TV shows, movies, etc.) however get intimidated by the sheer volume of storylines. To read .cbr and .cbz files you’ll need a program such as Comical, CDisplay, or ComicRack. Support the industry; please buy the currently ongoing titles if you’re interested in the series.

Why aren’t you reading Cable & Deadpool?

Honestly, if you want to start reading Deadpool comics, I’d start here. While Deadpool Classic is completely awesome, I recommend reading Cable & Deadpool first because of its compelling storylines, (mostly) aesthetically pleasing artwork, and because the dynamic between Cable and Deadpool is flawless. I also just like it better. It’s got humor, it’s got action, it’s got great writing - it’s got everything you could ask for in a comic book series! Read it. Like, now.
*All links are .zip files hosted at MegaUpload. If you have any questions regarding the links or even the comics themselves, feel free to drop me a line in my ask box.

Masterpost of Secret Avengers Comics
It’s the Avengers as a black ops superhero team. They fight crime, kick butt, and secretly save the world. ‘Nuff said.
You can use either 7-Zip or WinRAR to open up the .rar files, and either Comical or ComicRack to view the .cbr or .cbz files. (Most people I’ve discovered prefer Comical, as I believe it’s a much simpler program, but I actually recommend ComicRack. It takes a while to get used to the features, but trust me, it’s totally worth it.)

Secret Avengers Vol. 1What do you get when you mix a reborn-again Captain, an irredeemable thief, ‘Loony Moony,’ a former Russian spy, an Asgardian spirit guide, an ex-SHIELD agent, a giant blue cat, an alien space cop and Iron Man 2.0? One fucking spectacular comic. Enjoy. (Currently on-going.)#01-07#08-13 + 12.1#13-19 + Captain America and the Secret Avengers

So a couple people asked me for a Steve/Tony playlist and I thought “Hmm how can I make this 5000% more painful? I know! Civil War!” So that happened. Thanks to O for excellent suggestions and making sure this didn’t turn into “Tony and his Angst.”

Ultimate Spider-man Masterpost (sortof)

specialshera:

Everyone knows the classic story of Peter Parker, the boy who is bitten by a special spider during a school field trip and gains powers as a result. This Ultimate retelling doesn’t stray far from the basic story, but reinvents events, villains, and other details, along with a slightly younger Peter Parker, in order to be interesting to new fans and old alike. While it doesn’t follow Marvel’s “mainstream” timeline, the series is definitely worth a read for its realistic writing (i.e. a teenage Peter Parker who actually acts like a teenager among other things) and the way it intertwines with other Ultimate storylines as well as a unique take on the Spider-man universe.

Some pages may be out of order in some of the volumes, because that was the way they were when I downloaded them and I haven’t had time to reorder them. But every page of every volume is still in the folder, albeit a little out of place, so please forgive me if I don’t rush to wade through 100+ volumes to search for the handful of out-of-place pages. ;;; Also, since I basically expect downloaders to put everything in an “Ultimate Spider-man” folder, I didn’t name every folder that. Other than that, please tell me if I made mistakes, and be aware that these were all uploaded via Megaupload and thus I will need to be told when the links are out-of-date. Thank you!

comics masterpost

vociferocity:

a comics masterpost! or at least, a masterpost of thirty three comics (one shots and series) that I think are worth a look! if you read one and like it, I recommend buying it; reading comics in actual book format is so much better than reading it on a computer. to read them, I recommend CDisplay.

ok…there are a lot of things here! some are superhero comics, some are dc, some are marvel, some are more indie and have nothing to do with superheroes and are amazing. everything is listed alphabetically, but the top ten things I think you should definitely give a look will be marked with (♥).

if any of the links are broken in any way, please let me know in my askbox! also, please feel free to share these links/this post around! after all, I’ve uploaded them for internet people to read :33

and now a special treat for getting all the way to the end of this list! comics are forever doing these crazy event things where some major event in the shared universe for that specific company will bring a whole bunch of characters together who don’t usually interact (for example, House of M for marvel, or Flashpoint for DC). IDK about everyone else, but I can never be bothered to track down all the issues that relate to the event, and consequently never end up reading them.

and one I never managed to get around to was the whole Infinite Crisis/52/Countdown/Final Crisis shenanigan situation, which was why it was pre cool when I tracked down an audiobook of Countdown to Final Crisis.

it features a whole ton of people voicing the characters, and oh man it is so freakin rad, you guys! they streamline the event, and even though I was missing so much context, I still was able to follow the whole thing and really, really enjoy it. TBH, I never actually got around to finishing it - I was listening to it on my ipod, and then it died and I lost my place right near the end, but the rest of it! so good so good sooooo gooooood

anyway yeah, check it out!

With superhero movies come great responsibility a vast amount of people who want more background. How did these characters come to be? What have their journeys been like? Where do I even start? There are a lot of resources online to help you find your starting place, but sometimes they can be dense and confusing. I’m by no means an expert, but I’ve put together a concise post in order to help fellow fans.
